NBL decimal odds: compare return on the same selection
Calculate what an NBL quote pays while keeping head-to-head and line markets separate.
Compute gross and profit
At decimal 1.80, a $100 winning stake returns $180 gross, including $80 profit. At 1.88 for the same NBL selection, it returns $188 gross and $88 profit. The eight-dollar difference applies only if both bookmakers are offering the same game, market, team and line.
Understand implied percentage
The reciprocal of 1.80 is 55.56% after rounding; the reciprocal of 1.88 is 53.19%. These are implied percentages at the quoted prices. In a two-sided market the bookmaker's margin affects the pair, so neither number alone is a fair win estimate.
Check the smaller board
NBL coverage may have fewer listed bookmakers or markets in a given source snapshot. A quote from only one bookmaker is a single listed offer. Do not import another line or an NBA price to create an artificial comparison. Confirm capture time and the current bookmaker screen.
Worked example
Illustration: Book A and Book B quote the same Team A +5.5 NBL line at 1.80 and 1.88. On a $100 winning stake the gross returns differ by $8; if Team A does not cover, both stakes lose.
Illustrative numbers for explaining the calculation. They are not current bookmaker quotes.
Sources and method
The teams, line and odds are hypothetical. Gross return equals stake multiplied by decimal odds. The example establishes payout only, not expected value.
